Blue Jackets trade Cody Goloubef for Ryan Stanton

- Paul Berthelot

Also Stanton has some familiarity with Torts from his Vancouver days , wouldn't be surprised if Torts had some hand in this trade.

It was clear with the defensive depth on the Jackets Goloubef was not going to be playing in the NHL this season.

If they have so much depth, why trade for another defenseman? Wouldn't Stanton also not be able to crack the lineup?

This trade makes no sense what so ever. You trade a younger quicker and better puck mover in Goulabef for a stay at home defenseman who will never make the NHL again. This reminds me of the previous few drafts with the stay at home dmen they keep drafting.

I'm excited to see what this guy brings to us. Probably a 6th Dman?

Maybe it is just an AHL trade, since it is clear neither of them were getting back in the NHL this year. Maybe Cleveland needed someone like the man they got on the back end.

Gouloubef is also a stay at home by definition...this is just a minor depth move , Stanton is like the 8th defensman in back of Nuutivara and Harrington.

Sometimes a team (or teams) will simply do something to give a player or players a fresh start. My guess is there is nothing else to this-both players were passed in their organization, so a new chance is a good thing for them both.

Question, analysts and critics around the league keep saying we're one of the worst possession teams in the league, and that our bubble will inevitably pop soon. The infographics the team have produced over the last ten games or so show our possession stats above 51, 52%. Is that still bad?

Probably the same analysts that thought Trump would get slaughtered.

if it's corsi , then above 50% is generally a good thing

edit :

just found this on tsn , dave naylor pretty much answers your question

6. COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS 11-5-4
THIS WEEK: 6 LAST WEEK: 5
GF: 3.10 GA: 2.30 SA CF%: 50.1
PP%: 28.3 PK%: 83.3
While the Blue Jackets have just one regulation loss in the past four games, they also have one regulation loss in the past eight games. Possession numbers are up to middle of the pack, which goes nicely with a good goaltender and killer power play.
Key Injuries: None.
